Highly-touted Yankees catching prospect Jesus Montero drove in a run on a groundout batting fifth for the World Team in the 2009 Futures Game. Montero started the year in High-A ball, and now he is continuing his dominance for the Trenton Thunder (Double-A).
He is a replacement player in the Eastern League All-Star Game on July 15 after just 108 at bats.
His catching skills are still young at this point, but at 19 years old, he still has a long way to go. On the other hand, his hitting skills seem major league ready. He’s streaky, but has a tremendous amount of pop in his bat and looks to have a bright future.
