Sweeny Murti of WFAN has the news from Triple-A Scranton. He tweeted Brett Gardner went 0-2 with a walk in his first rehab game, and Jon Albaladejo was promoted.
Girardi says they will re-evaluate after Sunday, so good bet he's in NY Monday.
Great news for his return. The sooner the better. I also found out from the box score that Gardner stole a base. Obviously his speed is nothing to worry about, as he is rehabbing from a finger injury.
Albaladejo was strong for Scranton after being demoted in July. In 27 games, he pitched 36 innings, went 3-0 with a 1.75 ERA, and recorded 11 saves.
Hopefully the Alba can impress Girardi in September and make the postseason roster (unlikely).
