The Yankees (86-48) easily took the first game of the Toronto series last night by the score of 10-5 thanks to Jorge Posada’s huge night.
Here are a few news and notes to be aware of from the Yankees blogosphere:
- Sweeny Murti tweeted that Mariano Rivera was not available last night, but only because they want to be cautious with him.
- Posada’s two-run shot last night was his 20th of the season. That puts the ‘09 Yankees in elite company, writes Marc Carig.
- Alfredo Aceves earned his 10th win of the season last night — all coming out of relief.
- I praised Rivera yesterday, and so did John Harper of the NY Daily News. Does he deserve the Cy Young Award?
- Peter Abraham posted some pictures of the old Yankee Stadium from WCBS on his blog yesterday. It is rather depressing.
- The win was the seventh in a row for the Bronx Bombers. That marks the fifth time this season they have won at least seven in a row.
- Lastly, if you need a few laughs to brighten up your day, just check out the two videos posted on Scott Proctor’s Arm yesterday.
