Rangers-Yankees Series Preview:

The AL West leaders are in town, and the Yankees are without their captain, at least for tonight.

The Yankees have beaten the Rangers two out of three at home and on the road this season, and the Rangers have lost five of their last seven games.

On the Hill:
Tuesday: Alexi Ogando (7-0, 2.10) vs. CC Sabathia (7-4, 3.15)
Wednesday: Derek Holland (5-1, 4.41) vs. Ivan Nova (5-4, 4.30)
Thursday: C.J. Wilson (7-3, 3.09) vs. TBA*

Brian Cashman said on the Michael Kay Show that the Yankees are leaning toward calling up David Phelps, not Hector Noesi for Thursday’s start.

Players to Watch:
Nelson Cruz: Has five homers and 10 RBIs in June.

Jorge Posada: I broke my promise; Derek Jeter is no longer the player to watch, as he’s likely headed to the DL. Meanwhile, nobody in baseball is hotter than Posada, and tonight he’s hitting sixth.

Tough call. Tonight’s a tossup and I don’t even know the Yankees’ third starter yet. I’ll say the Yankees fall in two out of three after a close game tonight.
