Yankees dispatch M’s in series finale

As predicted, the Yankees avoided the sweep by stealing the finale. It was actually a rout, led by CC Sabathia and co.

Scoreboard Says:
Yankees 7, Blue Jays 1
Win: CC Sabathia
Loss: Jason Vargas

One Step Closer:
I haven’t checked in on the captain in a while. Derek Jeter is 20 hits away from 3,000 after his sixth-inning single today. At this year’s rate, he’ll hit No. 3,000 on June 18 against the Cubs at Wrigley.

Hey CC:
Sabathia tossed eight innings of one-run ball, striking out five and walking three en route to his sixth win.

Lefty Killers:
Nick Swisher and Andruw Jones both had good days against the left-handed Vargas. Swisher hit a homer and Jones hit a bases clearing double. Too bad they are both hitting below .200 against righties.

Game Ball:
Sabathia, for doing what an ace should do, put a halt to a losing streak.
